What is Presidential Succession and Disability?
Established by the 25th Amendment, Presidential Succession and Disability is when the President realizes that they can no longer, temporarily or permanently, run the country. Or it is when the President is deemed unfit to continue to run the country, and a vote is held by the Vice President and members of the Cabinet in order to remove the President from office.
What are some examples of temporary President Succession and Disability?
A temporary removal from office would be is the president has to undergo surgery or go on a vacation.
What are some examples of permanent President Succession and Disability?
A permanent removal from office would be if the president gets cancer, or some form of Dementia or Alzheimer's Disease.
Why would we need remove the President from office? Isn't that what Impeachment is for?
This would be in case the President somehow turns out to be completely crazy, but hasn't really broken any laws yet. You can only Impeach the President when they have committed a High Crime or a Misdemeanor, and we've never really Impeached a President before, because it's an extremely long process.
