Issues of the Electoral College
If they win the majority of the state, they get all of the state's electoral votes. Considering that we have states bigger than European countries with a wide variety of people and situations, it's hard to really feel like they have had they vote listened too.
Faithless electors - those that were chosen to pick a certain candidate, but pick the opposing candidate instead.
Presidential candidate can win without popular vote.
Only two parties are focused on, not enough competition/choices. Can turn into a choice of pick the lesser-of-the-two-evils.
People feel as though there vote doesn't count, and they will not vote.
